Safe Shopping

No matter what you’re shopping for, it’s always in your best interest to behave cautiously to ensure you’re making the most of your money. The home improvement trade is no different. Certain companies or people may attempt to rip you off or will do a job poorly. Nobody wants to be in a situation where they feel as if their time and money has been wasted. At Renaissance Conservatories we pride ourselves on our professionalism and on the satisfaction we give our consumers, but unfortunately not every company is the same. Luckily, when it comes to window companies there are signs you can spot which should act as a warning that a company may not be the best choice for your wallet.

Consumer Rights Act

As a consumer, you’re protected by a piece of legislation called the Consumer Rights Act 2015. This legislation states that double glazing installations need to:

  • Be carried out with ‘reasonable care and skill’
  • Use materials that are ‘as described’ in the advertising
  • Use materials that are ‘of satisfactory quality’ and ‘fit for purpose’

If a company or tradesman didn’t meet one or all these requirements, you are fully within your rights to demand your windows are repaired or replaced. This is vital to know if you’ve already paid for a job to be done and are feeling buyer’s remorse. In most cases where the windows can’t be repaired or replaced you’ll be given your money back.

Renaissance Conservatories will always be certain to meet all three of the aforementioned requirements within the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and will always aim to ensure your installation is exactly how you want it.

Know the Company

To avoid being in a bad situation in the first place it’s important that you thoroughly research the company you’re thinking of doing the job for you. There are many sites out there that will allow you to read reviews from people who have had experience with a company and that can give you a consensus on whether the company is trustworthy. Of course, there are other ways to gauge a company’s reputation, like checking to see if they’re registered with an organisation that only supports the very best in the construction and fenestration industries.
